New Member 2013 R1200RT - Sweet bike

Just a hello to the forum.
One week on my new to me 2013 1200RT and loving it. Almost wish my ride to work were much longer. Had a V-Strom 1000 since 2003 and someone decided to change lanes as they looked up from the phone and noticed an opening to the right. I'm fine - just very sore ribs. The Strom didn't fair too well and was a total loss. I did enjoy that bike but it was time to move on I guess. ABS may have helped but I doubt it - happened too fast.

The 1200 RT is an amazing machine and I look forward to making the changes needed to make it my own.
My first start will be some lower footpegs as I am 6'-4" and could use a tad more room. Currently I am looking at the Knight Design units. They don't make them for the passenger but I don't know why they wouldn't fit there as well as the mounts appear identical (as do the stock pegs). I may start with the driver's pegs and see if they fit the passenger position as well. My wife needs them lower to reduce her knee bend as she had knee surgery a year ago.

This appears to be a great forum and I hope to learn and add what I can.
Cheers!

Welcome to the Forum and RT ownership. I also bought a used R12RT three months ago and love it, though I'm keeping my R12R because I still love it too, different strokes. Purchased Suburban Machinery foot peg lowering kit for the RT, found a lot of good reviews and am very pleased with the results, nice people to work with as well, check them out. Enjoy your RT!

Welcome here Lokey1, glad you like the boxer twin.

I used some Knight lowered pegs on my f800s when I owned it.
The original pegs had rubber on top of the footpegs, the Knight pegs don't.
Sole of my road boots were a little thin, however the extra leg room did out weight any vibration felt.
