Hey guys,
this is a bit of a puzzle to me.
Having bought the bike last May, this was the first time I've had the tank off. I wanted to give the bike a really good clean, then i found the bottom of the front casing really needed repainting. So i removed the oil cooler, belt cover and stretch belt.
Refitted everything, after a really good clean, and now the bike will not start.
I have the jump leads connected to my gs, so its turning over fast enough.
I have a spark at both plugs.
I have fuel at both injectors.
Motoscan shows no faults.
If i give the bike a squirt of easystart it offers to start.

When i refitted the stretch belt, i'm not a 100% certain which direction i turned the engine. If the engine is turned backwards, can it upset the cam timing (unlikely I know, but i'm stumped)

Has anyone else come across this?

I've had the tank off twice again, removed both ecu's and reconnected them to make sure, all the fuel lines are connected, fuel pump runs (not all the time, but i can run it with MotoScan), all other wiring connectors checked and checked again.

Help

I've been mulling this over. I've always thought turning the engine only the 'correct' way was to avoid undue strain on the cam chain guide/tensioning components, rather than the risk of skipping a tooth. I've known motorcycle engines to at least run being a tooth off (not mine!).

To confirm, timing, you could check the timing marks as per the diagram below. Camshaft covers are at the rear of the cylinders, below the throttle bodies.
Rather than strip the front of the engine, you should be able to get TDC very close by inserting a dowel (or similar) down the spark plug hole.

I assume the bike had been run recently prior to the cleanup/paint - if not, it may simply be stale fuel.

That's all I've got.
