I had one on my F800ST and it readily swallows a helmet, although not much more.

A tip if you do get one - never lubricate the mounting rubbers with any protectant. They need to grip the rack so that in say a large dip, the force as the bike comes out doesn’t distort the locking mechanism under the case inner floor and cause the locking tabs to release. If this happens, you might feel a tap on your back and see a large ‘bowling ball’ follow you down the road.

Yep - I did this and it happened to me. I was very fortunate that BMW replaced the case free of charge. The replacement was subject to some cracking of the base with hard touring use that I subjected it to (rough roads) but I was able to ‘plastic weld’ the cracks and reinforce the base (all under the inner floor). I don’t know if BMW has improved the design in the meantime.

I really like that rear duffel bag. Looks durable and spacious. What is it?
It’s an A-Bag (or AA-Bag?) made and marketed by Andy Strapz in VictoriaAustralia. Not a bad design but, being a fabric, I found it wasn’t fully waterproof so everything had to be packed in plastic bags. Also, the mounting strap was fixed so it was always a juggle to get the strap under the seat when mounting. I suggested a design improvement to Andy to add additional D rings each side. He graciously implemented this on mine free of charge but I don’t know if the enhancement made it into production.
I ended up selling it and getting a somewhat bigger Nelson Rigg Wet Bag - similar to the Givi bag but better mounting I reckon - positive metal grip clamps on the straps. It also has a good reinforcement panel to keep shape and not sag.

The Givi V47 is my choice for styling, volume, build quality and weight capacity.
