This OEM rear luggage bracket replaces the stock hand rails to provide mount points for a BMW top case (or add a universal adapter plate for non-OEM cases.) For further details, see Max BMW Motorcycle Diagram 46_1731.
The photos show the full bracket assembly with a complete set of hardware. To mount a top box or bag, simply remove the existing hand rails, bolt on this bracket and go. The granite-grey plastic cover on the photo reflects light, not scratches.
Note: The prior owner drilled couple of small holes on the underside to mount cams. They are not visible from the top when the top case is off and they do not present any structural issues. Otherwise, the bracket is like new.
