My experiences with Corbin date back to the late 90's and have not been positive. The first was with a seat that arrived with a cut in the leather. Corbin said the cut was because I wasn't careful when I cur upon the box. I asked them how it was possible that the leather seat inside a plastic bag was cut but not the bag. I eventually got it sorted out but it took a long time. The second bad experience was when a Corbin could not be released from the bike. It was locked on and couldn't be removed. While I can't prove the problem was due to Corbin, I never had a problem with the stock seat releasing properly. I'm also not impressed with Corbin's seat pans because they look unfinished. So no more Corbins for me. My experience with Sargent have all been positive. I've bought several seats from them and find them to be a much better company to do business with and think they make a better product. My new Sargent seat (LC R1200R uses the same seat as an RS) arrived last week. The quality is top-notch, it looks like the stock seat, and has the same places to put the manuals and tools as the stocker. They even found a way to make room for an LED flashlight (included) under the seat. They are having a 15% off sale with free shipping so now's a good time to buy. OTOH, if you want to save some money, a guy on the BMW MOA site has a new-ish Corbin for sale fairly cheap. Neither seat is going to be comfortable for 12 hours at a time, but they will be better than what BMW uses.

I had one Corbin seat, bought it used, found it heavy, seat pan was rough, didn't fit well, and was hard and uncomfortable though to be honest I didn't keep it long enough to bond with it.

Have had four Sargent seats, three of them worked well and stayed, one used one was a bit soft and got resold.

Of the two, I clearly recommend Sargent, though every butt is different and there are satisfied Corbin users out there.

Finding a good seat is a tough nut to crack, LOTS of seat threads on the forum, most of us have BTDT, so good luck!

Cheers, Dave

Any one got experience with a Corbin Seat
I find the stock seat gets uncomfortable after an hour. Was looking at getting either a Corbin or Sargent.
Cheers
I'm very happy with my Corbin seat, I have over ninety thousands miles on my current Corbin seat.
I think the trick with any aftermarket seat is to be able to go to the manufacture to have it made for you.
I live down the street from Corbin three hundred fifty miles, I go there have the seat made ride home with the new seat.
By the time I get home the seat is broken in all is good.

+1 on Corbin exclusively in person. Their customer service is a nightmare, and if you have a problem with a mail order seat, you're gonna have a bad time. I ordered one online and requested black stitching (which is an option on the form, and I also made note of it in the comments for good measure). Didn't get black stitching... Called Corbin and was told to use a fabric marker to color in the stitching. Yup, that was their suggestion for THEIR error. I told them I wanted it corrected by Corbin - which they offered to do if I paid shipping both ways and was comfortable being at the back of the line again - I think the wait time was over a month.

If I was local, I'd consider going in to their shop for a seat, and not leaving or paying until I was satisfied with what I was receiving. But I would strongly discourage ordering online, you'll find plenty of testimony to that effect all over the internet.

Hey RR,
Do you have a link by any chance? I went on the Sargent website and didn’t see any mention of the 15% off.
Cheers.

I find the Wunderlich seat on my LC comfy enough for back to back 600 mile days and "open" enough for monkeying around on a racetrack.

+1 for Sargent, found service great, and there were zero issues with my mail order seat, driver's seat taller than the tall saddle, passenger's position standard height.

Thank you Sir, for some reason it wasn’t showing up on my phone, showed up on my laptop. They don’t charge tax either... now I am in a bind as I made contact with the guy from the MOA group who had the used Corbin. I guess either way I will be saving a bit of money.
It's a very attractive price but I passed on it for two reasons: 1) I didn't like the diamond pattern in the upholstery, it looks too "aftermarket custom" for my tastes, and 2) I think it's odd that Corbin made a one-piece seat instead of a two-piece like the factory did. I was only going to uses the seat on long-distance rides and then swap back to my stock seat so the upholstery wasn't a big concern, but given my prior experience with a Corbin getting stuck on a bike the one-piece configuration was a deal-breaker.

I did "seatng probes" on R1200R's in passing at a dealer and just hated the deeply sculpted seat on the 2009-2010 bikes and also an older ST which a friend had that I had ridden. I happened to find a slightly used (below 2000mi.) 2010 R1200R at a dealer which had a Sargent seat mounted, a center stand and sport shield at a reasonable price. I took it out for a test ride and bought the bike mainly because of the Sargent seat which is very comfortable, and the resulting ergonomics. Corbin seats tend to be harder and sometimes oddly shaped.

Thanks all, figured I would take a chance on the Corbin, (price being the deciding factor along with a couple of extra farkles that the seller had)
Picking it up this weekend, fingers crossed.
