I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but I'm getting input to confirm what I've found. I bought a set of essentially new (still smell like fresh plastic when opened) touring cases for the F800 GT and R models. I knew that the part numbers don't list the K53 R1200R, but especially where luggage is concerned the catalog doesn't always cover valid combinations. The load warning labeling even lists the S1000XR, R1200RS, and R1200R, so I took a chance. Sure enough, the cases don't fit. The left side sits forward of the securing lug, and the right side can't even sit on the rail due to interference from the muffler. What really gets me is that the part number for the mentioned label doesn't even list the F800 models as applications.

I'm listing them for sale in a few locations to try and recoup as much of the cost as possible, but before they sell is there any chance I'm doing something wrong? Any way these can be slightly modified to mount?

You’re not doing anything wrong. They’re simply the wrong bags for your bike.

I owned two F800ST’s and an F800GT and even those two models had different mounting points for the bags. You’d think they’d be the same.

The K1300S bags will fit after you tilt the mounting block on the back of the bag.
The cutouts on the back of the F800GT bags are different than the K1300S bags so I don't know if tilting the mounting block will work.

I run my old F800ST sports cases on my LC. I put a couple of washers under the RH pillion hanger for a little more clearance (exhaust recess is on the wrong side) and similarly one under each mounting peg. The mounting block needs to be adjusted to an odd angle, but they work fine.
The issue with R/GT bags is that these models have a high-set exhaust, requiring an offset left hanger. @herdygerdy managed to make up an adapter that provided an acceptable outcome. An alternative would be to buy a replacement case inner (S/ST model).

Thanks; like I said, that's what I figured, but there was some small part of me that hoped it to not be the... case (ba dum tsh).

There's an idea I hadn't considered; if this set hangs around for too long I may try to source a cheap set for the S/ST and perform some surgery.
