How do I replace the foot rest rubber on a 2018 1200r?

Undo the two screws under the footpeg.
This for an r1250R but should be the same;

Those are blind rivets, not screws.
Ah! Ah well I guess it is drill em out then hopefully pop rivet new rubbers on.

Or go for some swanky new third party foot pegs.

Interestingly I was looking at that diagram today after taking my bike for an MOT. The tester noticed that the securing clip was missing from my LHS passenger foot-peg. Nothing to stop the pin flying out and the foot-peg vanishing.

I’m hoping a circlip will do the trick.

That’s what I did, nothing to do with the rivets, just wanted pegs with a wider, less slippery-when-wet, platform.

I suspect you’re not in imminent danger of losing your pin; seems to me that the pressure of the spring will keep it fairly firmly wedged in there. I’d replace the circlip, but I wouldn’t lose a lot of sleep over it 😀

I recall a discussion here 4 or 5 years ago about drilling out the rivets to replace the rubbers. @Panzermann probably has a better memory than me.
Plenty of threads on here about footpeg options, but the rivets can be simply drilled out and replaced. When I did them on my F800 the replacement retaining plates were threaded to take M6 screws but I re-used the original plates and riveted them.
I also took the opportunity to fill the rubbers with RTV silicone to make them firmer and more durable. There’s no issue with additional vibration being transmitted - I run solid HP pegs on my LC.
Puig Sport aftermarket pegs.

More ground clearance and stiff enough to feel the bike without being annoying.

That was a front peg I linked to. There’s no spring on the passenger footpegs, so the pin could potentially pop out. Looks like an e-clip. Had a dig in my garage but don’t seem to have any, will get an e clip selection box ordered.
