Would anyone know what is the ID of holes in the fork spacer used to compress the spring? I am going to fabricate some tool, but need to know the size of points. Thanks

I used M8 screws when fabricating my tool, in general following the Haynes directions, to engage the holes in the plastic spacer tube. it doesn’t need to be a particularly close fit.

And a follow up question - what is the minimum ID of the spring compression ring? Thanks.

By setting up my tool as best I can to match the photo I posted, I estimate the outside diameter of the spacer tube to be 37mm.
Ask me again in a few weeks and I could measure it while changing my own fork oil (not to be confused with four coils …).

Thanks again. I kind of estimated the same from your picture by looking at the known size of 8 mm bolts. At the same time, I realized that if I was to use a “compressor ring”, its ID would have to be at least 55 mm, the diameter of the fork.

Here is one on Amazon.ca.

I made mine out of PVC Pipe and some bolts but also plan to order this for my next fork oil change at the end of the Canadian riding season

The unanticipated benefit of my home made design was that I could use a strap from each side (with a screwdriver inserted through holes in the open end of the U shape) down through the axle hole to hold the compressed spring assemble in place, rather than rely on having a third hand available to insert/remove the latching plate.
