Hi,
I am thinking in purchasing a v35 givi panniers but I am struggling to find the appropriate rack for my bike.

The only rack I found is the GIVI PLX688 Pannier Rack to fit BMW R 1200 R (2006-2010)

Anyone knows if this works with the 2012 model and if not what are you using ?

thanks
Pedro

Hi Pedro,

You need the PLXR5100 Givi panniers rack.

In 2019 I searched world-wide (and Europe) for one for weeks on the www and eventually found a rack at FortNine in Canada (shipping to England was interesting and very expensive). But they are out of stock as the item is no longer made by Givi.

You may find one, left as old stock, if you search western Europe motorcycle accessory suppliers.

Good luck.

What a shame is out everywhere :(:(… need probably to find alternatives. I wonder if you can retrofit somehow another givi rack to our bikes.
I do not think there are any other pannier racks that will fit the V35 side cases and your 2012 R1200R. I was promised that another make would fit my R1200R ( almost identical to yours except for the spoked wheels) and it did not so I sent it back for a refund. Be wary of accessory shops and their promises.

Givi think that our motorcycles are old, Pedro. So there is no other option imho. Maybe, keep a check on Ebay for used PLXR5100 frames, or try (and keep on trying) one of the motorcycle dismantlers like:

Or buy some different panniers that have a frame that fit your motorcycle 🤔

Those Bagtecs are clearly a generic set rather than specific to the bike - no exhaust recess did the LHS, and a box of brackets fir the carriers.

The bags might(?) be OK but I reckon the carriers will look like a Meccano set on your bike - if you can manage to bolt them up.

I just checked the same FC Moto supplier in Germany. None available.Currently not deliverable

But no harm in emailing FC Moto for advice to see if there are any PLXR5100 items in other countries that they sell into.

The mounting points are the same between the 06 - 10 and 11 - 14 models, unfortunately Givi lists both the PLX 688 (06 - 10) and the PLXR5100 (11 - 14) as a "Discontinued" Products. I have the PLXR 5100 "Quick Release Pannier Rack" on my 14, the PLXR5100 is a great system in that you can remove the pannier racks from the bike when not in use leaving only a 4 quick release mounting points (1 set at the upper mounting points and another set at the passenger foot peg mounting points) on the bike. The PLX688 racks were were designed to be mounted with the Givi 688FZ top case rack or they require a separate mounting kit (PLX688 kit), the case holder frames in the PLX688 remain on the bike. I like the look and size of the V35 cases on the Hex/Cam Head models, the size fits the bike and the shape of the back of the bags allow them to fit closer to the bike. Here is a links to site which still lists the products for the bikes.

Update on this. I found a store in Estonia that still had one Givi rack PLXR5100 in stock 😮. Arrived home today 👍. The store is Motodepoo for fyi. But the rack is no longer available.
Keep on looking. A new (or used) Givi PLXR5100 must be out there somewhere.

Maybe try the USA or Australia/New Zealand. You may need a shipping agent as they may not sell direct to Europe. And then there will be import tax and delivery. Could be expensive.

I used Ship By Mail for forwarding from Canada to England . There must be equivalent forwarders in most countries.

I have it now. Sorry if I was not clear. I contacted the store and they shipped the rack home. Unfortunately if someone else wants a rack is no longer available. I guess I took the last one.

This is good news 👍

Well done for searching and finding.

Looking forward to photographs of your motorcycle with the Givi pannier bags fitted.
