I have just brought the GPR HOM SLIP-ON EXHAUST POPPY and need to know if you need to do anything to get the bike to recognise the exhaust or just fit and go ???

Just fit it and ride, you can probably ditch the baffle if it has one as most of the silencing is done in the cat.

Any chance you could post a photo, I’m trying to decide on an end can but it’s hard to find photos of them fitted to the bike. I’m edging towards a Mivv one as it keeps original cover that goes over the joint. Thanks.

I know you’ve said this before mjgt, but have you ever started your LC without a can fitted? I have, just out of interest when changing a rear tyre, and found it horrendously loud.
I also find my SC Project can annoyingly loud without the db killer insert.
I know the R1150R engine was pleasant sounding with just a straight shorty pipe from the cat, so that meets your assertion, but in my experience, not the LC Roadster by a long shot.

No I haven't but my fuel pipe is just a straight through tube with some wadding around it and I don't run with the baffle in and it's not very loud at all. Next tyre change I will try it.

The wadding will make a substantial difference, and varies with brand.
Try it with the flapper valve open too if you want to hear it at full idle noise.

Fit it, it will be fine, it does say that on the GPR website that they are plug and play somewhere. Never had to do anything to other bikes when just changing the end can.
Will have a look at them for mine.

Check their web site, but in general, compliant aftermarket cans on Roadsters are fine without any EFI tuning mods, even with the baffle out. Not that you’ll necessarily gain any improvement other than better looks, lower weight and nicer sound (depending on the beholder).

I rarely do stock cans, and my own experience and lots of reading over the years have indicated that no re-tuning is required for simple aftermarket cat-back exhausts & slip on mufflers. It may be that you could eek out one or two additional but probably imperceptible beans by re-tuning, but it is not required. Bikes and cars all ran strong and sounded good w/o re-tuning. My $0.02 and worth every penny!

Cheers! Dave

Ok so it really is a plug and play and my only reason for buying it is for sound & looks so it’s a win-win for me
Thanks to everyone for your input and no doubt it won’t be long before my next question as I am about 500 miles from my 12000 miles service and probably won’t be going to a stealership to get it done

Looks, sound & weight saving --- triple win!

Admiring glances & bragging rights --- bonus.

Cheers, Dave

where are you? Somebody on here may be local to you and know a decent independent guy.
I am still on the UKGSER group so could ask on there if you get stuck.
