Anyone stay/ride in/near Greenville, SC? Planning a mountain trip WAY in advance and need some 411. Good cheap lodging (cabin or motel - I'm NOT a camper), not-to-be-missed routes/roads, not-to-be-missed sights? I know and have visited all the usual suspects in NC; BRP, Dragon, NC 80, etc. but never stayed in Greenville before.

thanks

I don't know how Clem gets that info from JP. I lived in Charleston SC for almost a year and visited Greenville and still can't get any advice.
We went to a wedding on a farm 30 minutes from downtown, and stayed on one of the farm's rooms. It was cheap, like $50 a night with breakfast included, lots of mountains to ride around and not to many cages. Black mountain, or black bear mountain, or bear mountain, or something like that was the town called.

Ever go to Table Rock? They have cabins for rent there at reasonable rates, but if it takes an hour to get back to downtown Greenville, not sure... Ever go to Travelers Rest? That looks close enough and avoids being stuck in downtown. Of course, it's a small enough "city" that I'm sure traffic is not really a problem.

Thanks,

Rustic cabins @Table Rock r nice. IF you got that far out of your way, the Ohlins USA headquarters is just across the border in Hendersonville,NC. May 18th annual open house is past, but still might like to P/U a set of smoothies to fit your red machine. Red&gold. Nice!

"out of my way" is hard to define once I get on the mountain roads. :D I lose track of place, time, identity... I'm likely to wind up in Wisconsin. I didn't know Ohlins was in Hendersonville. Maybe my kid should drop off a resume... We will be up there May 10-17, 2013 unless plans change.

thanks, Clem, for the info...

Well... I'm 21 days away from the Mighty Magical Mystery Mountain Madness & Mayhem Ride... Got the Kaoko throttle lock... remounted the tail bag... putting together the hopefully unnecessary toolkit... making route maps... oh baby oh baby...

Hard to believe that I'll have one year on the R come May 5! Time flies when your catching flies...
