Hello all... please pardon any typing errors, one of our cats is helping me with this post. This looks like a friendly forum.

I've had my R1200R for 1 week, so I haven't logged a lot of miles/km yet. It's a 2007, black with white pin striping, has 13K miles. It was a such a really good deal that I couldn't pass it up. I've had a couple of other BMW in the past, but this is by far the best one. Just sold my '06 Tiger to make room for it. (only have room in the garage for 2)

My other bike is a '04 Thunderbird Sport. I've ridden for a lot of years, and the Bird and R1200 bikes are my favorites*

* As in actually owned.. There are some others I'd love to have as well, but they're doomed to remain wishes/fantasies..

Thanks r1200r,
I found the forum with Google search for BMW motorcycle forums.... I posted my bike pics in the BMW R1200R Pictures section

Seems like a friendly forum.... but there's not much member traffic... guess there's not many of us R1200R riders around... I checked a couple of the other BMW message boards, but they felt kind of uppity....

Hello, Jayhawk -
Just joined forum, since just got R1200R.
Assigned to both Riley and Leavenworth in 70's; really enjoyed wide open spaces there on RT (800 then). Remember low humidity made dry snow, which blew off travel lanes, so put on snowmobile suit and rode year-around.
Why did you pick the 'R' ?

RFox... I picked the R over the RT 'cause it felt more nimble- the RT felt kind of bulky - a lot of my riding is in-town commuting and most trips are not excessively long; so the R is a good fit ....and cost; this used R was considerably less than even a new 800..... if I rode mostly on the highway, I probably would have looked seriously at a K1200GT....
