Finally, after 50-60 degrees, sunny days in December, the horrible winter is here to stay.
last night, I was coming home at around 37 degrees Fahrenheit, I have heated jacket and gloves, my upper body felt just fine if not warm because of the several layers on it but, my hands were freezing, even with the power of the gloves all the way up. I did around 20+- miles and when finally got home, i couldn't even take my helmet off, my fingers where purple and in so much pain, I tough I was loosing them from frostbite.

Anyways, I don't want to stop riding only because of this so, I did some research and ended up ordering a pair of hand guards.

I found few models that will fit our bikes, but ended up with the barkbusters S1 for $99.00 plus $9.00 shipping. Here is the link and some pictures of the other options. ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLE PARTS: Barkbusters Storm Handguards With For 7/8 Inch Handlebars

I will do a write up of installation when they arrive.

Handle Covers

It's COLD out on the bike.
For what it's worth,
These Japanese handle covers are very good for warmth
but do not give any brush guard or crash protection.
Rough and Road
About $75 USD 5,980 Jpn.Yen

I have used them in winter on R1100R for 15 years.
They fit my new R1200R just fine.
Installs in about 30 seconds with no tools using hook&loop strips.(Velcro ?)
Has a zippered pocket for smaller light items on R. cover only.
Good quality. Water resistant nylon.
Reflective piping.

Here is the maker's website.

Hand guards

Hi Hoshiko.

Did the hand guaards fit OK? I have a new-to-me 2011 R12R and want soem guards. I have looked at several other models but they will not fit because of the tight space between the bars and the lever/reservoir mounts.

Thanks.

+1 How did you make out with the barkbusters S1, because it is still cold here in Canada and I need all of the protection I can get!!!

Sorry I have not responded to any of the questions.
The barckbusters fitted perfectly, it took 5 minutes to install, they will be really easy to take off on the hot months, and the most important thing, they actually work so much for those cold days.
cheaper then heated gloves.
I put 2 black reflective stripes on them so they also work as a safety device to incoming traffic or when you are parked.
Hate to post again but I don't have pictures, here is a video with them.
