Hi lista,

I have posted a few questions but don't have much luck with answers. I'm a new R1200R owner having had a GS650G in the past year. I think I'm very lucky to have ridden the 650 since the 1200 is kindasorta the same feel except in a much bigger package. I LOVE having 6 gears.. and better yet.. a tach, clock and gas gauge. So with all the obvious luxuries, why not a dipstick for the oil???? I HATE those teenie windows since it takes two to check your oil level unless you have it on a center stand. I'm still not confident about the center stand.. not the stand, but the person (me) trying to get it ON the stand (or off it).

Being a cruiser owner, the ride on a BMW is so much easier even though that doesn't make lots of sense. A cruiser, you sit way back and can have both feet squarely on the ground. The Beemer, not so much. I probably need to get a lower seat since I can't really afford to have it lowered by BMW. It does make me nervous about stopping and shoving back out of parking. I have ordered boots that have a significantly higher range. My lovely Doc Marten cruiser boots don't cut it.

Anyhoo.. hello and hope to glean as much info from these forums as possible. If you are in my part of the country.. please check in and couch surf.

Do you have the "low" seat (770mm) or the stock USA seat (800mm)?

That will give you and extra inch and since the "low" seat is quite a bit cheaper than the stock seat....you dealer should have been happy to swap it out for you.

I just bought a new R1200R and let the dealer have the stock seat for my "low" seat. I pick up the bike on Wednesday. I will report back how I like that seat.
