In 2017 I made the move from Japanese motorcycles to try the BMW tourer thing. So far, so good. I hope to learn from those with ownership experience of R1200RT wetheads to make my ownership more fun and predictable. I prefer to do my own maintenance so I am on a steep learning curve with the BMW.

I picked up my R1200R to replace the my aging 650 V-Strom, but really love the little Suzuki, can't bring myself to sell it.

Welcome. A good starting point os obtaining reference materials for repair, namely the corresponding Hayes repair manual and the BMW service DVD. I find both useful to have.
