I'm shopping for a used R1200R; this will be my first BMW...are there any years of the recent models that differ significantly from the rest? Any major pitfalls to avoid? I'm really sold on an R1200R but want to know more...
The Classic's black&white paint scheme is different. It has beautiful spoke wheels, chrome muffler, and silver frame.
The 17'' tubeless tires are fitted with tubes.
Regular Roadster has 17'' cast wheels / tubeless. Red or matte grey.
The DOHC engine is the same in both models.
Before 2011, an SOHC engine was used.
Easy to spot, because the valve covers have 4 bolts.
Only 2 bolts on the new model DOHC.
Although I don't know of any problems with pre 2011 the bike changed considerably for that year model. I'll recommend to get a 2011+
And if you change your mind on the used one, check the new magnesium beige, it's super cool.
