Just ordered the 2013 Anniversary Edition

Hello good people,
I just placed an order for the 2013 R1200R black anniversary edition. I can't wait! I'm upgrading from a 2010 F650GS, which I have enjoyed immensely. I'm adding a sport touring windshield, crash bars, hand guards, and a bar riser. Maybe some shorty or adjustable levers. Anyone have a modification that they couldn't live without?

Theoretically heated grips, although my 12's are weeny. I strongly recommend the 139 db Stebel Nautilis horn as a mandatory add-on to get the attention of inebriated texting soccer moms driving Escalades, and/or turning small yappy dogs chasing you into atomized dust motes.
Congratulations on the 2013 R1200R black anniversary edition order and a hearty WELCOME to the Forum. BMW side panniers, a must IMO. I also have a tank bag and an expandable bag for mounting on the rear seat. Many owners have a rear trunk which is very useful. You can go from naked to touring in a few minutes. Farkles and bling are up to you, and everyone has a different opinion as to what's best. Can't wait to see your posts of the new Anniversary Edition.

Agreed on the panniers. Welcome to the club!
Hi Blubeast,

when do you expect delivery of the anniversary, I too am considering it.....what options did you get? How much did it cost you out the door. Like the Black the best, blue second....
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I sat on a 12 and knew immediately that it was a match. I am going to take the pannier suggestion....and just leave them off if I have a heavy stop and go commute. The low centre of gravity on these bikes leads me to believe I could stuff gold bricks in them, if needed. I'm tempted to get the trunk, too. I find it immensely convenient, around town, on the GS.

I ordered it on Wednesday, from SF BMW, and just found out that they are doing a production run as early as January which puts delivery in the February range. Options ordered: lowered suspension (30" inseam), ASC, luggage rack/pannier rack, and all the usual (heated grips, etc). Final price $17k. Probably $18.5-19 by the time I'm done with Wunderlich and taxes. I pretty much got most of the options but left off the chrome exhaust. I was concerned that it would stand out too much.

I'll be moving my Clearwater lights over to the 12. The seat concerns me a bit, but I do own an Airhawk. Play that by ear on the first trip...

I'll post pictures as soon as I take delivery of the little beast :)

Hey Blubeast, welcome, you are the first one here with a special edition R1200R.

I'm going to give you the same advise about the saddle bags, also, the airhawk seat will be great on longer trips (I have one too)

Rumor has it that the 90 anniversary edition is the closest one to the mighty matte gray.

Can't wait to see pictures.
I've packed 60 pounds of books and papers into my panniers and the bike just smiles and goes. . .seriously consider the 139db Stebel Nautilis horn. BMW horns are totally weeny and no-one even bats an eye. The Stebel will blow the false eyelashes off the transvestite in the F150 driving too close to you.
my advice? leave the bike as it was designed. adding a sport touring windshield seems ok as long as it's small unobtrusive. as for crash bars, hand guards, and a bar riser, well, in my opinion what makes the R so great is it's look naked and clean. all that stuff will start to make it look like a GS and especially if you're investing in the Anniversary edition, you'll dilute what BMW created with this bike with the cosmetic mods for comfort. sorry, i'm a purist i guess on some level. don't get me wrong, i've modded my '09 1200r with ohlins, staintune exhause and corbin seat, but i made sure to leave the body alone and regardless of what people say about BMW's that they're not sexy, i get plenty of questions about mine here in the states, mainly because i left it naked. just my 2 cents. celebrate the bike you bought, it's comfy enough trust me :)

Cool Welcome! These are a great bunch of guys except for Atractaspis, who claims she is a woman. All are helpful; not a personality disorder among them. Let us know if you do the deed :)

Ok here it is.. Really I am this: :1eye: ...you're on to me doc.

Congratulations on ordering the new bike! Am still waiting on mine to arrive (light grey)
DOes anyone know when the R12 had the most recent changes, in other words, should I be looking at a used 12 and if so, what years??? THanks.
OMG, this is practically a gang. . .

IIRC, 2011 was the year for most recent changes (new engine), and ABS became standard with the 2012 model year.
hey cug, are you ordering the anniversary edition? where do you live.
the Mother Ship thanks you. Keep us posted cug.
Just 1 question to ask yourself cug.
Are gold forks and brake calipers worth the extra $500 to YOU ?
(probably won't add any extra resale value after warranty expires)
It's the same great machine underneath the gold. Can't go wrong there!
Trade in the Tiger and be an all-BMW family. . . :)
Congratulations on your 90 Anniversary edition and count me in the list of crazy people, a couple of weeks ago I ordered mine, I am "upgrading" from a 1995 R1100R. I live in Panama, Central America and the estimated delivery is March 2013. I ordered it with ESA, ASC, TPM, OBC, comfort seat, side cases mounts, heated grips and LED indicators, all without knowing the final price yet.
No way ... :001_tt2: Love the Tiger. But I might be stupid crazy anyways.
yes yes yes.. be stupid crazy!! :devil2:

I am probably going to have to live of ramen noodles again, just like in grad school, because I HAD to have the R1200R with all the bells and whistles.. but at least I will have a big grin on my face while eating ramen noodles :001_wub:
