I don't know enough about it to suggest that this was an unfortunate one-off, or symptomatic of wider issues - but it certainly made me pause for thought!

635 lbs vs. less than 500 and the poorer handling are the two main reasons to stay away, and would be enough for me.

I have never ridden a GT, but I did have a K12R, and the powerful enging in the K bike is a hoot. But after riding boxers before that for years, I quickly realized it wasn't for me. Less visceral feel. So I traded for a R12R.

I have never been a full-fairing / full-dress tourer guy myself, though I can certainly see the advantages depending on the kind of riding you do. Are you considering a R12RT as well?
