when I had my clutch replaced because of the dreaded rear main oil seal leak, they replaced a couple of other things. you have to tear the bike in half, so replacing things that "could go" bad or are known to go bad sooner or later is a precautionary thing, but one I would consider wise. a slave cylinder, and a few parts. no one wants to go in there twice, that's for sure. look over that rear main seal carefully, they are known to go bad.

I believe there are quality aftermarket kits available too, at a better price than the BMW parts.

I changed only the friction plate, when the gearbox was off because of a sealing ring. Altough it was like new at 96 000 km. The base plate and cover were also like new. With its Trial like short 1st gear I hardly let the clutch slip but almost let it snap at bit higher idle revs. You might make a bargain if you google for "LUCAS TRW MCC609", which is the part.
