MachineartMoto MudSling rear fender & X-Head cylinder guards for R1200R

jeffanitam:

Thank you for your interest in MachineartMoto's products. MudSling rear fender for the R1200R with ESA suspension is $139.00. MudSling for models with standard suspension (non-ESA) is $129.00. MudSling offers excellent protection for suspension components; reducing maintenance costs as well as keeping your motorcycle much cleaner.

X-Head wide coverage cylinder guards function wonderfully as tough standalone protection. In the event of a tip-over or crash at speed, anything is possible. Even with crash bars installed, an object may impact and cause damage to costly cylinder heads. X-Heads will prevent hard contact with the cylinder head, absorbing and distributing energy away from exposed parts. I have added a photo that shows a damaged cylinder head on an R1200 that has crash bars installed. This clearly shows that, yes, you do need the additional protection X-Heads provide.

A minimum clearance of 15mm is required to fit with crash bars. Sometimes X-Heads can fit with less due to manufacturing tolerances from BMW, in any case the crash bars must be removed to install X-Heads. It is best to measure from the left cylinder to the nearest point of the crash bars, the cylinders are slightly offset and this side is the closest to the bars. If you let me know the brand crash bars you have, I can let you know if we have had any confirmed fitment issues, but most bars should fit.

X-Head DOHC guards fit 2011-2012 R1200R and sell for $189.00.

X-Head V.3 guards fit 2006-2010 R1200R and sell for $169.00.

Please visit machineartmoto to learn more, or to order anytime. We have worked hard to design high-quality, great looking products with major functional benefits. "A design edge."

If you, or anyone that reads this thread, is interested in purchasing both products as a bundle, I can offer a 15% discount + free shipping (usa only). This bundle combination is not available through the website and only available by phone. (908) 996-7210 Extension 14 will reach Katie in our design studio M-F 9:00am-3:30pm eastern time. Simply mention that you saw the offer through this R1200R forum. She'll process the order and ship it promptly. This offer is valid through June 2012.

Don't hesitate to contact me anytime via [email protected]

Machine Art Moto

Have had the ESA version Mud Sling mounted for about a month now.
The ESA shock and battery compartment stays much cleaner now.
Mud Sling wipes down easily and looks like part of the bike.
Installation was a snap. Fit and finish are first rate.
Reasonable price. Delivery was prompt.
I'm very satisfied with this MaMo product.
YMMV

X-Head compatibility with crash bars - R1200R

Hello all:

Crash bar compatibility with X-Heads installed on R1200R is as follows:

BMW, Tourataech, H&B fit.

SW Motech, Z-Tecknic do not fit.

Rule of thumb: need 15mm of clearance between closest part of head and crash bar on the left side.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mike Martin

Only thing I'm not too keen on is attaching parts to my bike with plastic ties. It does look good though.

Yes, I can relate to that statement.
My Honda has lots of zip ties on the handlebars. :D

Actually, there are 2 Torx fasteners which secure the MudSling to the frame at the top. The zip ties are black. BMW already has used black zip ties on both sides of my bike frame which are visible, two on each side.
So, I figured they matched.
You could conceal them cheap & easy if the appearance bothers you. YMMV

Hello mainjet:

The newest front fender extension is designed for RT's and will not fit any R1200R models. Our offerings for R1200 R include MudSling rear fenders for ESA & standard suspensions. X-Head cylinder guards for both versions of the R1200 engine. I look forward to meeting at the rally. Be sure to mention "mainjet" and the forum. The forecast is "hot".
