I just removed my mirrors, but there is a stem extender underneath- do they unscrew? Or might they be some kind of interference fit?

They seem very tight, and since they’re mirrors, I’m not sure of which direction to turn them-

Yes, there was, left hand thread, came off fairly easily- this lower bright metal part is not being as cooperatives-

It’s possible someone cross threaded it or maybe it’s just Loctite.

Mirrors are always tricky, and manuals are typically not forthcoming with that info. Plus it's not always the same logic with every manufacturer, where mirrors are supposed to turn loose if hit, meaning the right one is supposed to be right-hand thread (righty loosey, according to lingo above. Ha ha). I had a hard time loosening mine to adjust them properly, and now don't even remember what I did. Should have written it down. Ha ha. Oh well.
