After a long search and a number of test drives I decided on the '12 R1200R Classic. My local dealer made a dealer trade and I'm hoping to have my bike for "BMW Bike Night" at a local establishment next Thursday.

Having ridden a number of other bikes (Ducati, Triumph and (gasp) Harley) the R1200R made my decision an easy one. I'm a little too old to be leaning over the tank and didn't feel like I was giving up (much) along the lines of performance with this bike. And what a beauty....

Can't wait and will post pictures when it finally arrives.

Welcome to the forum and to an amazing bike.

You mentioned BMW bike night, that sounds like fun but forgot to mention your location.
I'll be more then happy to go to one of those nights.

See you here.

Thanks guys. If you're ever in Milwaukee during the summer, the Harley Museum has bike night every Thursday and the Iron Horse Hotel (right next door) also does a bike night on Thurs. They however do a theme, everything from customer choppers, to Ducati (tonight) to BMW (next Thursday.)

Events Calendar

Brobeman,
I have a request for you, and ALL the other R1200R Forum members.
Would you please go to the Quick Links tab and open the Calendar.
There you can Add Events. The two bike night events you mentioned are a perfect example. Other riders in your area may see it and come.
Other riders touring through your area will be alerted.
All too often, members only learn about area events they would have wanted to go to and participate in, but they did not know about it until afterwards.
BMW Owners rally. GP race schedule. AMA & WERA race schedules. Motorcycle shows. Cycle gear Trade Fairs. Dates for rider discounts and group buys. New model releases. Recall dates.
You know, rider information.
The more info. that's on there, the better informed the Forum readers will be. After all, It's OUR Forum. Let's add some detail & color! Thanks.

:eek::eek::eek::eek: How did I missed that??

I have a Saddle Saturday ride, we get together and ride 200-300 mile upstate and back, it's great but it's always so early in the morning (for Saturday) and no one hangs after the ride.
Hi Hoshiko, who sponsors your saddle night and where does it start/ go. I work in, and commute by r1200r classic to, lower Manhattan, live in Westchester, and am always looking for riding buddies and opportunities.

Picked it up last night. Took my first (short) ride tonight.

Loving this bike and already planning a weekend trip to MN And IA to visit Surly and Toppling Goliath. Obviously visiting both at the end of the day. Trying to figure out how to upload a pic now.

Hey las, I sent you a pm.
Anyways, so anyone around can join, I meet with a friend right across the Lincoln tunnel at 9:00am, we ride to 124 Essex St. Rochelle Park, NJ 07662, arrive, have coffee and bagels, take a nice ride, come back for music, some days live music, food and then go home around 3:00pm.

Everyone is welcome.

Congrats on the new bike, they are awesome. The more you ride it the more you'll love it.

Have any of you guys ridden to Billy Joel's bike museum on Long Island? For those within distance we should plan a meet up there one weekend. I have two friends that ride BMW's that would certainly go.

I didn't even know there was such a place, I am 40 miles from Oyster bay, I'll be up for a trip there any day.

I heard there is a big motorcycle community on Port Washington, we can also check it out.

How to post pictures???

Re: Brobeman,
"Trying to figure out how to upload a pic now."

Man, I feel for you. You have no idea how long it took me to get it right.
First, Open an account with PhotoBucket, or another similar photo upload website. You will need a user name and a secret pasword for access.
Then, upload your photos from your camera or computer.
Choose the photo you want to add to your Thread or Forum post.
Scroll the cursor arrow over the photo, and options will appear below it.
Left Click on IMG Code, & it will remember it for you.(sorta like cut&paste)
Then return to your reply window on the Forum, right click, choose Paste, it will transfer the link there for you.
As long as you leave the photo UP on PhotoBucket, it will show up when others read your post. Good Luck.
