Placed and order for a new R1200R at my Texas dealer last night. There is some doubt I will get that bike as BMW shuts off 2011 production on July 11th. So I am sweating out the news..yea or nay.

Not new to BMW bikes as I put 112,000 miles on a 1972 R50/5, 14,000 miles on a 1973 R60/5 and 137,000 miles on a 1986 K75C.

The new "R" should outlive me...so I am "good to go"!

I look forward to making endless posts about "which is the best seat, best oil and best windscreen".

Just kidding, but I do hope to pick your brains if I have any issues with the bike!
Hope my next post is news about the delivery of the new bike: Red / sport shield / ABS ASC Heated grip Computer PKG / low seat / bag mounts.

Well BMW AG crapped out on my "order"...no more 2011 R1200Rs will be built and info on 2012 models is 2 months or so away.

Not to worry...I found the exact Bike in dealer inventory in Santa Fe. Bought it! Road trip comming up!

JOY!

where they were when they

Almost everyone remembers where they were when they heard about PING K15 Driverthe 9/11 terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers. Wedge design legend Bob Vokey is no exception and strangely his recollection involves the successful captain of the Great Britain & Ireland team in Ping Anser Forged Ironsthe weekend's Vivendi (Seve) Trophy.I was chatting to him on Monday of last week, the day after the 10th anniversary of that New York disaster and the Canadian-born equipment guru told me he remembers the moment clearly.“I was on the practice ground at Cog HillDiscount Golf Clubs for the 2001 BMW Championship in Illinois and I wasTaylorMade R11 carrying a wedge belonging to Paul McGinley, who’s a good friend

Just got my RED R1200R one week ago with just about the same as what you ordered. The low seat is hard on the butt so I purchased an Airhawk2 air cushion and it really makes a big difference in riding the R1200R. Bike drives like butter - so smooth. I am also looking for a tall windshield as I'm 5'5" and the wind just buffets the crap out of you on the highway. If you get a tall one let me know what brand.
