hi hoshiko
thanks for putting up the vid of the r1200s and pic , i did not like the classic at first , it does grow on you though , trouble is i like them all really , 56 years back i had a adv gs ,red silver with the spokes and it used to drive me crazy cleaning the spokes and the trouble is i am a matter of 200 meters from the sea edge and it is a very harsh environment to live by , nice yeah but anything metal ,it has a self life of 5 years . everything i own is always wiped over with motor oil ,it does work .the dirt just sticks to it .. anyway the r1200 looks fantastic and cannot wait to buy one soon . i will use it every day and it will not be a pretty sight after the first few weeks , the motors are suburb ,not the fastest ,torque and longevity ,can't be beat .would like a r1 new cross-plane . but just to impractical for a daily hack . another plus for the bmw , it will hold its value much better...
how many miles has yours done since you bought it .
they take a while to loosen up and get much better.
thanks again rca.:)

I have somewhere around 1500 miles, because of work I have not been able to take a long multiday trip.
I had an FZ6 before and absolutely loved that bike for NYC commuting, Of curse I like the Beemer way better for many reasons.
I wouldn't get anything so sporty (R1) They look great but between paying 3 times more for insurance and back/wrist problems after 30 miles, I'll stay with traditional, classic, standard or whatever you call the R1200R.

Consider also that the spoke wheels need tire tubes, if you get a flat, you won't be able just to plug and go.

hi hoshiko
i am sure my old adv 1150 had tubeless rims even though they had spokes, just had a look in the garage and found a tubeless repair kit that came with the bike . rca.

Hi rca,
You might want to check this video out, great detailed pictures and good music.
Hi Hoshika,

I have a few questions for you if you don't mind?
-What colour is your bike. Is it the Grey?
- How comfortable is your seat if riding two up for the passenger?
- How tall are you?

I was thinking of buying a 2012 F800ST but recently saw pics of this bike on my local BMW dealers site and absolutely love the look of this bike in the Grey colour.

I'm 5' 10" and was wondering if the standard seat would be okay for me. Also, I have owned several bikes in the past including racing 250 Moto Cross. It has been about 12 years since I've ridden but recently took a 2 days riders course to get refreshed. I'm wondering if the R1200R might be too much considering my lack of recent sadle time.

Thanks,

Craig

Only several months late,
I'm 5'10" or 1.80 in meters. I'm completely fine with the bike's height, the seat I have is the comfort seat and don't have any problems planting both feet on the ground, in fact, I don't have any problems with the extra 1/2 inches my air seat give me.

I wish I could answer the passenger question, I rarely ride 2 up, My wife is better then my last bike but not much because of the seat but the position.
She hasn't try the air seat yet and I'm sure she will be happy.

Hope you are still around here and with your R1200R
