As I consider the R12 2013 to buy, like the anniversary black edition, I came across the ninja 1000 abs and found some really good reviewis on it. Obviously, I know this is a bmw 12 pro audience but thought I could get some feedback on the comparisons...

THanks!!

Gets good reviews. Cool looks (but they need a red version!). Less of a do everything bike than the R12, and the usual differences, shaft v. chain; 2 riders v. 1. . .but. . .depends what you want to do with it.

As drdave says I think the 2 bikes are so different it's difficult to compare. The BMW definitely is a bike that does everything well. Shaft drive, bespoke hard luggage, good tank range, comfy seat and good looks. The Kawasaki has a lot to beat.

Psilitsky. If you want a sport bike tourer, look into the 2013 Ducati Diavel Strada.

True, if you just look at the upright position of the rider, but 160 HP with bags, pillion backrest and windscreen says rip your arms out of their sockets tourer to me. That might combine your cravings for a "do everything" bike with a Middle-Finger-In-The-Air-Watch-My-Dust Bike.

The Triumph is only three hundred pounds heavier. Other than that. . .:)

Interesting, I have the diavel prior to the touring version.....and I agree with CUG, its 162 hp of pure power with less than 500lb.....and a 240 rear tire...so , its great on straight roads, but not great for touring or twisties.......so I am considering trading in the diavel for the bmw 12. Just considering all my options......

True. . .I hear it has torque up the wazoo. Still, it's something like 800plus pounds. That's heavier than some of the Porky-Davidson's. I wouldn't want to have it tip over on me. . .

Ninja

Don't have anything GREEN to wear, but I could do Red ! :)

Good midrange torque, more upright than super-sports models, adjustable screen, bags, abs, doesn't cost an arm and a leg. This Ninja is not without it's good points. I could do Red !
The production factory is 30 minutes away. You order & pay for it, I'll drop by the factory & break it in for you. How's that ?
