Need your thoughts on my Situation. I ride a DOHC R1200R and i am very happy with it….

But since last season the LC is running around my brain. Had the chance to ride it for the weekend during mine was in the workshop and it was great fun. Forgot about it during the Season but now a very good offer is coming around the corner.
The LC for me in all disciplines is the better bike but i also love my DOHC. It‘s like leaving the wife for a sexy young girl if you know what i mean 😉.

What do you think….is it worth it ? Performancewise the LC fit‘s perfect for me and i also like the look….

It‘s just 2500 € additional to my DOHC for a 2016 fully loaded 1st hand, 8.000 miles and yearly serviced. More polished than riden.

Just sharing my thoughts:
While most/some people keep their vehicles for a very long time, some upgrade every few years, and I am in the latter group:
As good as a vehicle is - and even when upgraded in certain aspects e.g. for top-of-the-line shocks/suspention,
There is no substitution for the more advanced technology + handling a several-years/decade+ newer model brings to the table out of the factory.

So for me personally, given I am in the upgrading-every-few-year-group, the math is: if newer model has many significant upgrades, or alternatively I really like it compared to current vehicle + a good deal comes my way = I will upgrade.
In fact this is the reason I have ended up upgrading a like-new/low-milage 2016 R1200R LC to a R1250R; it simply kept nudging me since I have test-ridden it. And same w/ my Subaru Outback. And in both cases I am fully happy with my choice/not regretting for a second.

If you’re referring to the LC, Lawrence, I recall you found your Racing Red 2017 Roadster rather less inspiring than your former, more matronly, Camhead.

Looks like a great deal at just 2500€ for an LC with just 8000 miles and serviced (assuming it's an ESA to ESA, non-ESA to non-ESA or non-ESA to ESA upgrade) but, personally, I'd save that money for trips, rider training or better rider gear (e.g. airbag).

It‘s not 2500 € for the complete bike it‘ the gap that i have to pay when selling my R and buying the LC R.

A couple of things have always stopped me on the rare occasions that I've thought about getting an LC: 1) I'm still compelled to turn around and look at my hexhead as I'm walking away from it because it's a compelling machine, and 2) I think about all of the time and money that I've spent over the years getting this bike set up exactly as I want it (custom saddle, upgraded suspension, auxiliary LED lights...the list goes on and on). After mulling these over for a moment, I exchange a few pleasantries with the dealership salesperson and amble back outside.

… not being game to take an LC for a test ride for fear of being smitten. 😂

Here's my own lived experience on this topic. It has nothing to do with the cost of ownership, technological advances or high-level feature/benefit comparison. Purely subjective on my part. So, having come from three, is it four non-LC naked R models, the last being a ‘13 camhead before? I agonised about switching to an LC. Do I want to be-farkle ( drumroll invite @Panzermann) my bespoke customised camhead? Long story short, to stop the wheel-spinning about the decision, I placed the order with my dealer over the phone (no test ride). So to get to my point - I loved my camhead; it did everything I asked of it - long-distance and rock-solid stability in all conditions. My ‘17 RLC, however, has taken my riding experience and confidence to another level. I feel more connected and in control. In fact, in a riding situations where I felt sheepish on previous models, on my LC, I am more connected. Perhaps it's because, on an LC, i sit in the bike rather than on top of the seat - I don’t know, and I’ll leave it to others to debate the spec sheet differences.

I appreciate my contribution to this thread is subjective and provides no tangible evidence that would stack up under examination. For those Aussie members how can remember The Castle” Dennis Denuto all those years ago best sums up my position.

Interesting, when I tell my wife that I could and should leave you for that sexy young girl, she responds”make sure my name is the only name in the home’s title and bank account “
You will be broke with either one my Friend So, just keep both.(y).One for the same once a week ride and the other for the things you can‘t do with the wife…ooops DOHV.
FYI… some countries do allow 2 or more wife’s.
