Do the locks on the system cases lock the lids...the bags to the bike, or both?

I have not purchased a set yet..but the bags on my old K75C have two different locks, one for lid and one for "to the bike". Both taking the same key.

Did you dealer charge you to key the locks to your bike key? Can my locksmith buddy do that for me?

the cases on my 2007...have 1 lock, it's keyed the same as the ignition...

the case opening latch pops up by pressing down on the lock button... then lifting the latch opens the case...

pressing down the lock button, and turning it with the key in it, releases the case from the bike

I bought my bike used, it already had the cases.... with previous BMW I owned....the dealer changed the lock tumbler's pins to fit the ignition key at no charge when I bought new cases... they just swaped the pins in the locks with some from their supply they keep in stock.... the whole process only took a few minutes...

can't say for sure if other dealers would charge or not... your locksmith friend would have to buy a supply of the tumbler pins, and then end up only using a few of them....

should read:
turning the lock button with the key in it, pops up the case handle, lifting the handle releases the case from the bike
