Melcvtr, that bracket looks really nice and is a great example of your clearly very fine 'shade-tree' fettlin' skills.

To potentially deter the thievin' scrotes even more, could you consider securing the bracket with anti-theft torx-head screws (black of course!)? Also, would the screen be made even more secure by mounting the main screen cover bracket with two screws (say M4 or M5) on each side (instead of one) so as to prevent said scrotes from being able to rotate the bracket away from the face of the TFT to gain access?

Could be a nice little "side-hustle" if you considered fabricating them up and offering them for sale here & on Advrider. Just puttin' it out there...

& as an R1200R LC owner, I don't actually have the need myself, but I certainly applaud your ingenuity and fabrication skills, nice job!

You must have a very good workshop and craftsmanship to be able to do that so well with 3mm steel!
Thanks very much. I made myself a sheet metal bender as a welding project last year for my 6” Paramo vice and it works pretty well, so that was the bends sorted. A cheap Chinese bandsaw, an angle grinder and a jigsaw sorted out the rough cutting out. A Dremel made the cuts less rough

The anti-theft torx screws are a good idea. Thanks for that

In terms of the scrotes being able to rotate the bracket away from the TFT, I don’t think they could do that because the bracket fits very snugly on the face of the TFT all round so if they pulled at the top, the bottom part prevents any rotation and vice-versa.

Thanks for the thoughts.

First time I've used Hammerite hammered finish. I like it.
A fabricator with painting skill - nice job and well done, M8.

guys, just wanted to see if there has been anymore updates on the screen bracket being make
i have looked at the cymarc website and nothing for the r1250r is this because they dont have a bike available for making a bracket .They have basic design for the screen sizes etc so by the looks of it they just need a bike for design of brackets similar to malctvr (which i have to say you have done a fantastic job and looks mint and i would very happy buy that product if you was to produce them )
i may be able to help with the bike as i live in lincolnshire and scunthorpe is not a million miles away and anything to deter those toerags from nicking stuff i am all for

The TFT screen is no different, its the mounting on the R1250R that is different, somebody at Cymarc must know an owner, or why don't they go and get a demo bike for a few hours to make a simple template, photo's. Its been over two years now so you would have thought it could have been sorted by now!

Sorry to reply on such an old message, but this thread caught my eye just now.

I still don’t get it. I mean it is just a display intended for a motorcycle. A tablet or other such device is better in every respect at everything in terms of general use.
Maybe they just steal em cos they can?
By stealing many screens, I think the thieves are creating their own businessmodel...
Aren't many of these stolen screens available through shady e-bay types?
I think this easy removal of the dashboard is a critical design-flaw.
The olders dashboards weren't that easy to dismantle, why would anyone design a TFT dashboard to be easily dismantable...

The same people who designed a licence plate bulb holder that requires removal of the tailpiece liner rather than a single screw on the light’s nose piece. All did the sake of a captive but on the latter.

Yeah. I went through the whole thread, even when it doesn't concern my 2012 R12R. It makes me remeber the old days when we took the screens off of our car radios to prevent theft of the radio. If it is so easily taken off perhaps hiding it under the seat or taking it with you like we did the removable car radios is a better idea

I really love my bike, but considering the many design ****-ups and over-engineering I am growing an antipathy for the brand...
