Well if your BMW is old enough you will get the joy of learning how bing decieded to go half metal and half plastic on the throttle pullies and they BREAK ! On my GS I paid a local shop $650 to fix it ouch ! I just recently bought a 2009 R1200r and guess what ? Same problem ! Wow not another $650 again ! So I looked up the web site for Bing and found you can buy just the pullies L/R for about $25 each or the shaft with the pullies already mounted for $60 each and thought why pull the assembly down that far when you can buy just the upper part grind off the top of the shaft thats been peened to hold on the pully drill and tap the top of the shaft file the edges so the new pully fits and screw on the pully ! BOOM ! Problem fixed for less than $100 and if they break again just order a new set of pullies ! Things to keep in mind you need a drill press and then take of the throttle position sensor and get a really flat 2 ich think plate and drill a 3/8 inch hole in the center to set the side opposite the pully end your going to drill ! Be sure the hole is deep enough for the screw and then carefully use aM4 x 0.7 4 fluted tap you can get at ACE Hardware with a # 30 DRILL ! And be careful tapping the hole go partway in and turn the tap back out to clear the threads and hole use lubricant every time ! If you ask Bing will include 2 M4 x 0.7 screws ! Side note when removing the throttle bodies , look where the throttle cable attaches on the inside there is a silver metal tab you have to push on to release to get the cable off and when putting back on be sure the upper part of the throttle cable sleeve is in the upper junction box where the 2 cable meet it can be a pain ! the hose claps are a trip use a pair of smaller channel locks and lightly squeeze the upper and lower tabs to release it and to put it back on ! GOOD LUCK !
