Other than the trip-o-meter, is there a total mileage read-out somewhere on the 2012 Classic? I apologize in advance if this is a unibrow low-forehead question. . .
LMGTFY Hmmmm.....Page 40 of your owners manual. Control button is on the lower left (under the speedometer) Odometer reading in total miles. After that Trip 1 & 2 are displayed.
PDF manual: BMW Motorrad International
What does SENIOR member mean, anyway?
You know Doc, I wondered about that, too. Classic said something about being like a Rock Star.He was giving me whatfor 'cause I posted tire pressures in bars, not psi. Not moderately, 10%mildly-somewhat super??? If rock star were like Elvis or Buddy Holly, that may be OK,but if it meant being like chief dweeb Justin Bieber, think I'd rather be a nobody. You like music, don't you Doc?What rock star, if any, would you like to be?
btw: Can you change your computer from F to C? or from km to mi? Just curious. Someone asked. I tried & couldn't. Dealer?
I looked at the BMW site, and it looks like, depending on who is writing, the answer is either (1) the dealer can change it with software (2) you can only change it out if you actually change the instrumentation.
Rockstar? Hendrix, assuming a longer life-span. I actually saw him play. Or Jerry Garcia, ditto about life-span and weight control. When I was in my 20's I did the opening guitar set for a Chuck Berry concert. Seriously. I watched him turn down the autograph request of a 5 year old girl, telling her that unless she had money, he didn't give autographs.
Did they leave the "I" out of "Superior Moderator"?
Can I get my speedo to read out in knots instead of kmh and mph? My, my we ask a lot of these machines...
...and does a "senior member" require viagra? if so, i'd rather be a junior member, though that has its own aspersions... perhaps best to just settle for "member".
If you push all the buttons at once, you can convert your odometer to smoots per jiffy.
The smoot
A smoot is exactly 5 feet, 7 inches—the height of MIT freshman Oliver Smoot in 1958 when he was used to measure the length of the Harvard Bridge between Boston and Cambridge. Smoot’s fraternity brothers determined the bridge was exactly 364.4 smoots long, plus one ear.
jiffy - there are two definitions of a jiffy, both of
which are units of time and mean very, very fast. In computer engineering,
a jiffy is one cycle or one tick of the computer's system clock. It is
0.01 second. The second definition is the time required for light to travel
one centimeter, as proposed by American chemisty Gilbert Lewis. This translates
to 33.3564 picoseconds.
*I watched him turn down the autograph request of a 5 year old girl, telling her that unless she had money, he didn't give autographs. That's sad ! Fame gone horribly wrong. Shame on you, Chuck.
*(1) the dealer can change it with software. Think that's the approach BMW wants customers to swallow with a glass of water, and like it.
*Y-Bob Your BMW should read WARP 1-2-3...Warp 5 Scottie ! Ensign Chekov, set us a course for...? Out yonder, somewhere! Aye-Aye Capt. Bob.
*Jiffy, that's what my wife says everytime she changes wardrobe before going out. "I'll be out in a jiffy." I assure you young men, it's closer to 30 minutes. Thanks Doc & Oliver for the Smoot. I've been edified. (or was that edumacated?) Ohh, I forget.
When I was in my 20's I did the opening guitar set for a Chuck Berry concert. So drDave, if the R1200R was a guitar, what kind of guitar would it be? A Fender Stratocaster, Gibson LesPaul, a Martin acoustic, or a Gibson Hummingbird? and YES, it certainly does resemble the weekend, doesn't it ! Welcome home, Hoshiko. Yes Yonderbob, SMM, you're the chosen one. (your nose is bleeding)
