Yeah...I suspect “Made in China“ is a big part of the equation in my case. If I ever buy another, I’ll research the product closely.

Mine was just a trade stand giveaway - most certainly made in China (albeit virus free). If yours is substantial, it may be worth opening it up – if the batteries are standard size AA or AAA (with or without solder tabs) you could replace them with NiMH items for a few dollars each from you friendly electronics shop.

I just did that with the 'non-replaceable' battery in my electric toothbrush and the charge life has never been better.

OK, @mikeS, you were right – zip-ties are, in fact, essential.

Pity they couldn't fix Toby's subsequent broken collarbone.

If Toby had a few large self-tapper screws in his kit - wack a couple of screw either side of the break held together with a couple of cable ties two panadols and a slurp of water...
