just wondering what any of you have used on the 1200r at the track. i've ridden roadsmart 2's and q2's from dunlop and happy with both but wanted to see what any of you have used. thanks

Haven't had my new R1200R on the track yet. Previously used sticky Dunlop Alpha 12Zs. Don't last long. The new SportSmart tire has my curiousity peaked ! Like rebobd said, Q2s get a good rep and sets are cheap, too! Good grip! RoadSmart IIs for a sport touring tire are remarkable. Bridgestones: BT-003, S-20, BT-016, & BT-023 in that grip order. P3s and Z8s also popular. At VIR yesterday, word has it the basic & intermediate groups were mostly street approved tires like these. The Advanced group followers were using the stickiest street tires each mfgr. could offer, and leaders had track specific tires. NOT DOT street legal. Dunlop D211s or Michelin Power Ones. Pirellis were too expensive for amateurs to afford. If you don't use tire warmers, work up to speed. Don't get too eager on the 1st lap.

thanks clem, love the roadsmart for street and touring use and will be using those when not on the track, for 2 day school upcoming i ordered q2's and gonna try and wear 'em out
