Hi
My 2016 has been eating the battery lately - charged up and starts, but fails after sitting for any amount time. Im going to try replacing the voltage regulator before the alternator but I don't know where it is! Can anyone help!?
thanks

Have you actually tested the charging voltage? It’s pretty unlikely the regulator has gone bad compared to the likelihood of a bad battery. Similarly with the alternator - much less likely, and you’d be hoping its fine as the alternator is at the back of the engine so there’s a huge amount of work to replace it, plus the cost of the part.
Your instrument panel will show charging voltage. If it stays around 14.2-14.4V when the engine is running, the charging system is fine.

What Panz said, if you have 14v + while it's running, time to change the battery.
Unless you live in a very cold climate, I recommend the Shorai , super lightweight, and can withstand deep cycle discharge and still be recharged.

I don't think that's what Panzermann actually said.

I think what moto-rama was saying is that if all else is fine, then the battery must be bad, which is what I implied.
If the bike starts fine after the battery has been sitting on the charger, then the starting system would seem to be OK. So the battery is the weak link - charge depletes when sitting.
