Sunday I rode from Eagle Point Oregon to Gold Hill very nice and twisty road that follows the Rogue River. Once there I invaded a Harley group that was having a ride in. Stopped and hung out for about a hour. Showed pictures of my Road King, parked in the garage. Headed out from there and took the back roads to Jacksonville, encountered a bunch more guys and gals on Harleys. Parked in the middle of them at the JVille tavern, had a beer and sandwich...talked rides. Then left for home. Beautiful day about 50 degrees F.

I joined in the tail of the police motorcycle escort for the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka during he and his wife's visit to Australia - :grin2:

Goodness gracious me!

Took advantage of the excellent weather on Monday and went for a 550k round trip to Bungendore from Sydney inner west. Took all the usual backroads starting from Southern Highlands via Bundanoon, Tallong, Goulburn and then down to Tarago. Perfect weather and managed to break in my new RP4s....

I usually keep off the Hume as much as possible as it's too dangerous (I could die of boredom ...). From Tallong I normally go via Bungonia to Tarago.

Today I decided I had to see my two customers on Phillip Island.
So, down the Bass Hwy and then a sharp left turn onto Gap Road.... Ooops.... I can see a race track and hear some bikes. What a coincidence you might think :)
Watched some of the Moto GP bike testing today from the visitors area of the Museum/Cafe.
Geez, they are really noisy bikes and so much faster than the Classic bikes we only watched two weeks ago.

Then I really visited my customers and rode back home after through Grantville, Wonthaggi to fill up, then Kongwak, Korrumbarra, Poowong and Lang Lang back onto the Highway.
(Probably funny names to the people from outside Australia)

No funnier than some Canadian places - Moosejaw Saskatchewan, Dildo Newfoundland, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump in Alberta, and in Ontario, Swastika, Moonbeam, Pickle Crow (where I spent some of my childhood summers, now a ghost town), and my personal favourite which is just down the road from me, Punkeydoodles Corners.

Went to outer space baby!

Was a space driver going for a spin, 1000kms return, on the Roadster to see a long life favourite music band the B52's in Christchurch, such a fun band.
They were the back up to 'Simpleminded' another big music 80's band.
Good weather 27 deg cel, took a diversion along some of these man made canals, was expecting to see Mo Dean on a UFO.

The same B52s of Rock Lobster fame? That song hit #1 on the local radio charts here when my older daughter was about 4. She insisted on hearing it over and over, dancing manically around the house. She's now 40+ :surprise:

Just for the memories, I'm playing Private Idaho as I type ... thanks for the flashback

That's a lovely-looking 90th you have there, Shisk - I always lusted after one of those! As for the 1150 - identical to my own (other than the screen), which was the second boxer twin I owned after my first, the preceding 1100R. In many ways I think the 1150 was, from a styling point of view, the most attractive of the big Boxers, with that nice sculpted tank, shapely - nay, sexy - Telelever, pretty front 'guard.

"Son unplugged my computer" - sounds like the old "me dog ett me homework, miss" excuse to me!:smile2:

Welcome back - where y'bin recently?

Went to bed on Saturday with the forecast being for 90% chance of rain. Woke to find that now 10% and 22C temps, perfict!. All very welcome from the recent intense storms and plentiful +40C days we've had in Sydney for the last few weeks.

With an early start at Sutherland, headed down the Old Princess hwy past Wollongong, up Macquarie Pass and for breakfast at the Robertson pie shop where it was 14 degrees and light misty fog. Thence off to Goulburn via Exeter, Bundanoon and Tallong then a quick sprint down the freeway and a stop for fuel at Goulburn.

From Goulburn we went up the Taralga Rd to Oberon for the lunch stop. My first time for this stretch of road and it's highly recommended. Lightly trafficked, about 100K's of good surface running through rolling hills and dales.

After lunch headed on to Mt Victoria, along the causeway and back into town with a very picturesque run through the blue mountains and down the escarpment on the Bells Line of road.

570K's for the round trip, with the roads mostly to ourselves (everyone else must have heeded the earlier forecast).

Seems like Australia is allowed out on their bikes again, some great photos. Our wintered summer seems to have moved on, lovely days of late.

Firstly, LofS as you may recall I was about to become a father and so the answer to your, 'where ya bin' question is I have been busy or not in the right head space for riding.

While I've still been riding, since my son's arrival 9 months ago, riding has taken a back seat to life with a child. To be brutally honest, I can't wait until I can throw him on the back >:)

Left home before sun up at 5:30am on a 250km loop out to Toodyay, then onto Bakers Hill where ironically they bake the best pies in Western Australia (in my opinion). This is where I bumped into the old boy with the 1150. He told me he had purchased her second hand for 7,000 AUD and she had only done around 20k kilometres. He was headed out to the swap meet in Northam and asked if I wanted to join him and his mates on their side car Suzukis'.

My objective however for going on such an early ride was to beat the days heat. I got home at 1100am at which point my bikes' guage reckoned it was 38 C

Well, congrats, Shishka. Tbh I did not remember - I have difficulty some days remembering my own name,
let alone others' details. But I have been there, done that, with children...

I've ridden extensively in all States and Territories. It seems that every small town you pass through in any given jurisdiction claims to have 'the best pies in <insert here>'. And frequently, to go with it, 'the oldest licenced pub in <insert here>'. But it adds a bit of fun to the journey! Good luck!:grin2:

Parts of my original post 'which the dog ate', are slowly coming back to me...

For anyone who's curious, yes that is rehydrated beef and pasta by some Kiwi mob, this is your signal to chime in Erin :wink2:

All washed down with a hot cup of instant coffee.

Who'd have thought you could fit a kitchen in these BMW panniers:grin2:

Headed off from Canberra with MikeS (a.k.a. Messerschmitt) and the usual crew on our trip to Phillip Island - via Adaminaby, Kiandra, Elliott Way, Walwa, Granya, Omeo Highway, Falls Creek and Mount Beauty. A bit warm in places at 30 C but down to a lovely 20 C in the Alpine region.

A good day's ride. :smile2:

Arrived this arvo in time to catch the start of season photo shoot on the main straight, mingling with the riders and ogling their bikes.

I've pitched camp in the marshals trackside campground and will be marshalling on the infield at the entry to the Hayshed. MikeS is staying in San Remo; I'll be catching up with him and the rest of our crew at the San Remo pub Friday night.

I gather that you and PanzerBloke are at the Superbikes this weekend. Is BMW still taking part in SBK racing?

As for myself.... I'll be going nowhere for a few months. My ride up the Oxley for 3-5 Feb started well enough if a little damp. A quick run up the Putty for lunch at Grey Gums & then continued up mostly the New England Hwy to sleepy Nundle as our base for the next couple of nights. Dinner at the local pub was typically good, a couple of beers & a good sleep had us back on the bikes at 7:30 Saturday for a ride to Walcha for brekkie. 4 bikes, nice road, which turned out to be the wrong road, clear sky's & away we went. Suddenly that great road turned to dirt on an open (read quick) left hand bend. No early warning sign & me second in line was instantly in trouble. Brake HARD....... ABS worked it's best washing off speed as quickly as it could but that ditch loomed large. Last thing I remembered before shooting off was Scotty on the Sena... "you right Sricko?... NO!!! Crunch & a very quick stop in a 2m ditch filled with blackberry bushes & sizable rocks. I landed on the point of my right shoulder & immediately knew there was broken bones involved. Carefully, slowly, after getting some breath in a busted chest I was helped out of the ditch to the embankment on the other side of the road. EMS called, ambo to be over an hour so a chopper was dispatched. SES guys turned up in 5 minutes, ambo was quicker than expected & arrived before the chopper. With a very thorough check over & some good pain meds onboard I was dispatched to Tamworth hospital. The upshot of all that was I'm VERY freaking lucky. 5 busted ribs, 2 fractures in my shoulder blade & a snapped collarbone.
So slow recovery & no bike for 3 or 4 months
I have pics but am having trouble loading them

Just use the paper clip that is outlined in red above ....it will take you through steps to upload saved pics from your iPad.

Let me know if your still having trouble.

Hope your recovery is straight forward and speedy enough Stricko, gravel is a nightmare especially on a corner. Like you said a warning sign would cost so little to have in place compared to your hospital care.

Ouch!
Sorry to hear about your crash Sricko. Might be of little comfort right now but could have been a lot more serious. Hope your feeling better soon. Please shout out if you need assistance getting things sorted with you bike. MikeS
