Would this rear fender fit on a 2017 r1200r?

Hey all,

I always wanted to add a rear "fender", not so much for riding in mud and rain, but because it would simply look better without that huge empty space between the rear wheel and the seat. Call me picky, but a nice subtle piece in there would look good. I know there are several threads on specific rear fenders, but this one from Aliexpress looks great, seems to be easily fit using two existing bolts already on the bike, and doesn't look bad at all. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/4000805763091.html

And at less than cdn$20,it's a no-brainer.

Thoughts?

I don't buy from anyone who advertises on YouTube. AliExpress is one of them. Do you think you're getting a quality product at $12?

If you search the forum you will find at least 1 instance where this kind of fender has gotten broken on its own accord during a ride,
And IIRC is had been a well known and reputable brand (Puig IIRC);
And while luckily the rider has not crashed/lost control, IIRC in some/other instances there has been damage to the surrounding parts/hardware;
With the above in mind, and with the Chinese-made being much cheaper (i.e. lower-quality materials) + the Chinese lack of accountability, personally I would not get/use it even if offered to me for free.

UPDATE:
here is another post where I have pointed out (yet again) this issue:

and a link to the original failure-post:
Yeah, I figured it was too low a price to be taken seriously. Is there a consensus on a decent rear fender that attaches in a similar fool-proof manner? There was one that seemed to be generally considered pretty good but there were several cases where it broke because of the mounting method (and the flexing of the suspension ended up causing fatigue in the plastic), I don't remember what brand this was...

AliExpress is like Amazon - There are a lot of sellers there, and the product quality varies. But there is a lot of really good quality stuff there too, at a lot lower prices than the exact same products on Amazon.

Additionally, almost every single major motorcycle brand, parts outlet, insurance provider, tire manufacturer, etc. - the list goes on and on - advertises on YouTube. That is like saying "I won't buy anything advertised on TV" in the 80's...

I should qualify that all the ads I’ve gotten are generally for specific products, and I either find the product reviews are mediocre to poor or, if it’s a decent product, it can be had for a lot less elsewhere. It’s a shame because some YT creators sponsor products on their channels, but the taint of YT ads is why I don’t take any of them seriously.

It’s the equivalent of buying stuff you see on late night TV when you have insomnia.
