Misfire / hesitation on cold start

If there’s smoke (presumably black) that’s partially burnt fuel.

I’d think it unlikely it would be the flapper valve sticking as, on the 1200LC at least, it is at its maximum closure at idle, opening progressively to fully open at 2500rpm. On key-on, you should be able to hear it cycle.

Could it possibly be a decompressor lever sticking?

You’d still be under warranty so it would be worth discussing with your dealer.
