I recently purchased a 2024 1250R and as an owner/rider who has always enjoyed my own home maintenance, I was a little disappointed to hear that BMW were no longer prepared to sell us the service manual. Well . . no worries, I managed to get hold of one for the latest R1200R and that remains relevent for 90% of the routine servicing etc plus I have been able to supplement it with some additional info for the 1250 and so I have pretty much all the information I need but . . . .
I was also led to believe some of the servicing tools were also unobtanium and, sure enough, when I checked with my dealer, I was told certain tools I wanted were marked down as "unavailable".
Motorrad UK weren't able to elaborate and so I contacted Germany who were able to confirm the tools were on order and that I should just order as required from my dealer. . . . ."unavailable" apparently means no stock held but not as I had assumed - discontinued!!
Anyway, for the princely sum of just under ÂŁ300 - all these genuine BMW OEM service tools arrived this morning and so I'm happy.
The reality is, this kit will only ever get used a handful of times and so if there's anyone in my area who wants to do this work on their bike, you are welcome to use the tools in return for a few beers.

Those are really nice to have tools. The L and R camshaft jigs appear to be made of high-grade carbon impregnated plastic rather than steel or billet aluminiun. Wish I lived near you, the cost of those delectable but seldom used tools would puy me off buying them.

They’re definitely steel..
I’m looking forward to using them but won’t be for a while yet.
I was very conscious that with the 1250 now defunct, service tools will likely be the first thing to dry up and to have a set of genuine factory tools is a real plus for me!! 👍
