I bought the bike a little more than a year ago. I am quite satisfied. I was a little worried about her weight and bulk. She is definitely not svelte. But sexily heavy like an attractive matron. And nimble on her feet. The low horizontally opposed cylinders mean she carrries her weight down low. And the upright stance and wide handle bars help. Whether she is easy on the eye is of course a matter of taste. But she grows on you. While sold as a roadster, with a few farkles she makes a reasonable tourer. A wunderlich touring windshield and Sargent after market seat add long distance highway comfort.
Price wise I think I got a decent deal. A 12 year old bike with 14k miles ( bmw side cases and top cases included ) for $7,000. 18 k service at the dealer was a thousand dollars. BMW = Bring More Wallet.
All in all she is a keeper. But with a roving eye, who knows…
