The video shows off the design of the bike better than BMW's official release video, it looks fantastic
When looking at the BMW released pictures I thought the area at the front of the tank and radiator looked too fat.
It looked good in this video.

This is becoming a little far off topic, even for this forum, for the R1300R discussion thread... Just saying.
My posts about the R1300R panniers, rack and centerstand??

Thanks Macca64
Now that were home it will be easier to view the pictures on the large monitor instead of a little tablet.
One thing I don't understand on some of the newer models is the light in the panniers.
We have always used liners in our panniers, so a light in the inner half of the pannier would be no use.

In 2007 we were headed to Big Bend National Park to meet up with friends. Debbie and I left from a gas stop at Marathon, Tx following another rider headed to the same place. After a few miles he pulled over and we stopped to see if he was having problems.
His TPM warning was on and he said the pressure was dropping fast. It must have been around 100 F so I told him we should go back to the Border Patrol station we just passed and ask if we could use the shaded inspection area to work on the tire.
Sure was nice to have shade, and a work table instead of working on the road shoulder in the heat.

We found out the new bikes with canbus would not run a tire pump so he plugged the pump in to Debbie's pre canbus K1200RS.
I decide that day I wanted TPM on our next bikes.

Seeing what the dealer gets for a standard oil change I dread the thought of paying for a dry sump service. I long ago worked on a race car with dry sump and draining all the oil was a pain, to be fair the engine wasn't designed for dry sump so we'll see.
On the K1300S with a dry sump most shops sucked the oil out. I did the same. You could suck the oil from the oil tank faster than draining a wet sump bike.
The K1300S had a site tube for checking oil level and you could also use it to drain the oil. The tube was slow and left a little oil in the bottom of the tank.
There was also a drain plug on the bottom of the pan as there was a little oil there.

After the 2023 R1250R didn't meet the expectations, here is something maxbe worth saving my pennys. Article says it has drysump, an aluminium frame and Telelever :)
The telelever is probably just on the GS.

I have to believe that's it. All the models that had the 1250 boxer engine have been upgraded to the 1300 boxer -- R, RS, RT, GS, GSA -- so there're none left. All other BMWs use a different engine platform and will presumably continue to do so.
Maybe they will have a R1300S :)

I forgot about the LT.
Found this info on a LT forum.
99 -01 did NOT have linked or integrated brakes.
02-04 all have integrated brakes

BTW I've found AI is not very accurate.

To know for sure if the front brake is applied when using the rear brake, have someone sit on the bike or use a front wheel stand. Spin the front wheel, then press the back brake lever.
I just tried it on my wife's bike. When I press the rear lever I can freely spin the front wheel.
Also tried it with the ignition on.
This is on a 2022 R1250RS.

I find his comments about the front brake being linked to the rear interesting. BMW’s press release information (below) makes no mention of this.
I was also surprises to see that mentioned when watching the R1300RT review.

The radiator covers look a little on the large size. I'll need to see it in person.

Saw an R1150 Rockster today, and the bulge-y bumps on the sides of the tank are a bit of reminiscence on the new R1300R.
So far I have not seen a good picture showing that area of the R1300R.
I'll need to see one in person to know if I like it.

Wonder if any of the collective have put an R of any vintage on a weigh bridge?
The grain elevators are about a half mile from our house. The last couple bikes we purchased I thought of stopping at the scale before anything was added to the bikes, but didn't know if big scales made for loaded semi trucks would be accurate for a motorcycle.

Maybe the more complex fully water cooled engine is a little heavier,
I thought the 1300 was still water and air cooled like the 1250.
Edit: This is from the BMW site
"Air/liquid-cooled twin-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine"

So the R1250R has an 18 litre tank, co2 rating is 110g/km with fuel consumption rated at 4.75l per 100km

The R1300R has a 17 lite tank, co2 rating is 110g/km, with fuel consumption slightly higher at 4.8l per 100km
I would read that as the same consumption. The 4.8 is rounded off.
On a review of the RS it was mentioned the fuel consumption was slightly better than the 1250RS.

Getting back to the thread (😅) in the case of the new 1300 platform, the front brakes are also linked to the rear lever, which as far as I know is a first for BMW bikes.
I don't think the K bikes ever had that setup, but I think the R bikes had it for a year or two.
