BMW R1300R?

Looks like that 1300 rumor has all but solidified into fact, according this article from yesterday -- and there's apparently going to be a 1400 version as well!

If our bike has a similar upgrade down the road, I wonder if it'll be the 1300 or 1400 configuration?

Sounds like all the models will have the same engine size.
The regular GS will probably be called a R1300GS and the GSA will be called a R1400GS.
 
After the 2023 R1250R didn't meet the expectations, here is something maxbe worth saving my pennys. Article says it has drysump, an aluminium frame and Telelever :)
The telelever is probably just on the GS.
 
Seeing what the dealer gets for a standard oil change I dread the thought of paying for a dry sump service. I long ago worked on a race car with dry sump and draining all the oil was a pain, to be fair the engine wasn't designed for dry sump so we'll see.
On the K1300S with a dry sump most shops sucked the oil out. I did the same. You could suck the oil from the oil tank faster than draining a wet sump bike.
The K1300S had a site tube for checking oil level and you could also use it to drain the oil. The tube was slow and left a little oil in the bottom of the tank.
There was also a drain plug on the bottom of the pan as there was a little oil there.

ESA is still available on the GS, just it is now called Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) I think. So I can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t continue to be available on the new R1300R just as it currently is on the R1250R.
ESA has not been available on the R1250R in the US for a couple years.
 
In 2007 we were headed to Big Bend National Park to meet up with friends. Debbie and I left from a gas stop at Marathon, Tx following another rider headed to the same place. After a few miles he pulled over and we stopped to see if he was having problems.
His TPM warning was on and he said the pressure was dropping fast. It must have been around 100 F so I told him we should go back to the Border Patrol station we just passed and ask if we could use the shaded inspection area to work on the tire.
Sure was nice to have shade, and a work table instead of working on the road shoulder in the heat.

We found out the new bikes with canbus would not run a tire pump so he plugged the pump in to Debbie's pre canbus K1200RS.
I decide that day I wanted TPM on our next bikes.

We're both very lucky, plus for some reason when we're at a intersection, nails and screws seem to stand out to me. When I spot something I'll point it out to Debbie.
 
The last 20 days we've been out on our first car vacation since getting married in 1977.
I've only glanced at the info on the new R1300R the last week or so. Tonight I checked it out on the US BMW website and I don't see a rear rack or centerstand listed as options. Do those options show in other countries?

Now that were home it will be easier to view the pictures on the large monitor instead of a little tablet.
One thing I don't understand on some of the newer models is the light in the panniers.
We have always used liners in our panniers, so a light in the inner half of the pannier would be no use.
 
This is becoming a little far off topic, even for this forum, for the R1300R discussion thread... Just saying.

The cases, which have a capacity of 26 and 29 litres respectively, are electrified and can be unlocked using the central locking system. They also both feature interior lighting, and the left-hand case includes a USB-C charging port.
A little smaller than the current generation bags which are 30 and 31 liters.
 
I think the problem is that BMW likes to bundle the optional gadgets in such a way that you have to buy several in order to get the one you want. Last time round in the UK everything was selectable individually. So I'll agree with you there, I don't wanna pay 2K plus for crap I don't want.
In the US the last bikes we bought where we could pick and chose single options was the K1300S.
I just looked at the BMW site now for the R1300R and when I pick the red, white and blue one it's fully loaded and the only options I could pick was automatic, exhaust and GPS Prep. Without those 3 options the price is $22,080.

Saw an R1150 Rockster today, and the bulge-y bumps on the sides of the tank are a bit of reminiscence on the new R1300R.
So far I have not seen a good picture showing that area of the R1300R.
I'll need to see one in person to know if I like it.

Have you guys in the US been hit with an extra 10% on prices since the new tariffs?
I don't know.
The base price is $16,595 and the total is $17,290. Total probably includes shipping.
Back in 2021 the shipping on our 2022 bikes was $495.
 
The radiator covers look a little on the large size. I'll need to see it in person.

I find his comments about the front brake being linked to the rear interesting. BMW’s press release information (below) makes no mention of this.
I was also surprises to see that mentioned when watching the R1300RT review.

The video shows off the design of the bike better than BMW's official release video, it looks fantastic
When looking at the BMW released pictures I thought the area at the front of the tank and radiator looked too fat.
It looked good in this video.
