Have you tried different tire pressure? It sounds like it could be low to me. The only time I had any weird behavior from the R01 the rear pressure was low. Lower than I run, but not lower than what some use (2.3 bar 34 PSI if I recall. May have been slightly less). I added air and it was fine.
No, pressure is fine. I run them at factory recommended pressure: 2.9 bar rear, 2.5 bar front and I always check it before riding.
Weird behavior happens only when you really push it, ride on the edge of tire, close to foot peg scraping. It gets worse if you are aggressive on throttle when exiting the corner
At first I thought it's the suspension, because the rear starts "pumping" up and down, similar to riding on a wavy surface. Tried switching to dynamic but nothing changed. It's definitely something about the tires. With Z8's I've had none of the issues of this kind

When I purchased my bike way back in November 2013 (**** that seems like a long time ago), she was fitted with Bridgestone Battlax BT023. Having come off a Softail, not knowing any better and having never ridden on another sport touring tyre I thought the feel and grip was good until, at about 13,000kms I was going for a decent trip with my wife and didn't want to chance it with semi worn tyres. Therefore changed to Metzeler Z8's before heading off, I felt this tyre was much more superior than the BT023 and enjoyed this until 27,000kms when I had my 30,000km svc done a bit early. I then opted for the new Metzeler Roadtec 01 and am happy to say that I couldn't be more satisfied with this tyre for wear and grip. The way it is wearing I reckon I'll make 50,000kms before my next set of tyres. I do however check my pressures very regulary and even carry a pump and guage. Also I am past hooning into corners, hard braking and fast take offs from the lights, It's time to ride smarter with a young bloke at home :smile2:

The Z8's on my 2015 R12R lost their feel just before my 6K service. Although they did everything one could ask of a tire for fast distance touring and local hot rodding I decided to try something new so I opted for Dunlop Roadsmart III tires. I had PR4s on my R1200S which I felt were more confidence inspiring than the Z8s and almost went back to these but the price was right and Dunlop was offering a $100 US rebate so why not. So far I have about 250 miles and no regrets. There is a fun local road near my house that has a few chicanes I like to play with and of the three brands mentioned, the Dunlops have better turn-in and make quicker directional changes. This is exactly what was looking for in a tire that promises to deliver decent mileage. No rain test yet.
