Powder coat or polish wheels?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has powder coated or polished the stock wheels on their R1200R? I've just bought a 2008 bike with the slightly bland grey wheels and was wondering how much work is involved in making them look better?

I'm in the UK so if anyone has any recommendations/pics it would be appreciated :)

Here's my bike btw, bought it 2 weeks ago :)

It looks lovely, frankly! I'd be inclined to leave well alone. But YMMV...

I agree. looks nice just the way it is. powder coating is a lot of work. you have to take the tires off, wheel bearings out, powder coat, and reverse the process. I had the wheels done on my VFR800 and it was $230 for the powder coating.

Oh, just buy a set of black carbon BST wheels and you won't have to worry about powder coating. Maybe about 4000 dollars US, but what the heck. . . :)

Carbon fiber wheels!! :) Would go great with your color. Only problem is that they are ÂŁ2,498.00. Oh the other problem is that then you would catch the carbon fiber bug and want to change everything else to carbon fiber too. :)

(edit: I didn't see Dr Dave's post about the BST wheels....)

Personally, if I was set on changing rim color, I would buy an additional set. Leave the stock tires mounted on the stock rims. Would have to buy another set of TPMS if your bike has it.

Here is a company in Essex. You can send them your rims for powder coating and they send it back to you. You have to take off the tire and wheel bearings for them though. Powder Coated Wheels | Maldon Shotblasting and Powder Coating

Whoa. The black wheels and valve covers look great with the white bike. Really nice contrast!
