This is really a beginner question, I'm almost embarrassed at how all of this is mysterious to me... I'm hoping someone can explain it all in simple 5th grade terms
I'm exploring various navigation options. My bike is a 2017 model, and has the BMW navigation prep (the cradle). I thought it had become clear to me that the my best option would be to buy the Connectedride cradle, install the Connected app, and use my phone with this app for navigation. My limited understanding was that the app provides acceptable navigation, and the cradle "pairs" with the magic wheel thingamajig for navigation control. So far so good, though all theoretical (and hopefully correctly interpreted).
Now, while waiting for the Connectedride cradle to arrive, I downloaded and installed the Connected app and created an account.
In Google, I quickly stumbled on a YouTube video that shows "how to pair your motorcycle with the Connected app", so I thought I would need to do this. But the YouTube instructions are to go to Settings > Connections > bla-bla.... But there is no such thing on my bike. No "settings" at all. All the buttons on my handlebars are for trip meter, suspension adjustment, driving mode, and info (selection from a few possible info things to show on the display). No Settings anywhere, and therefore no "Connections".
In short, from what I can see, I cannot pair this bike with the Connected app.
My main question is whether the Connectedride cradle will be equally useless? Am I trying to buy a cradle that is not supported by my bike? Sure, it's supposed to fit in the gps prep cradle, and my cell phone is supposed to fit in the Connectedride cradle... But if the app can't pair, then will this Connectedride cradle only be a glorified phone holder???
Sorry for the long-winded cry for help but the info I'm able to find is contradictory and/or not applicable
