Hi

I'm hoping owners of the 2015 R1200R can help.. I have one (base model) on order which should be with me in a couple of weeks hopefully.

However i was at the showroom today and looking at the demo bike they had, I couldn't find the 12v accessory power socket. Looking at the specs for the bike, it says that its a "standard factory equipment".

Does yours have one?

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Ian, I think he means that the outlet is on the exact opposite side of the bike from where the seat lock is.

I may be wrong but I think there is a capped off plug under the passenger seat for an additional socket. I'll put a meter on mine when I get a chance to confirm. I use an SAE socket direct to the battery or a fuse box for my heated gear. I don't understand why BMW started putting the powerlets on the right side.

Is there any trick to using this plug? I got a powerlet to SAE plug and then am using a battery tender SAE to USB adapter, then running a cable to my phone in my tank bag. The phone does not charge.

Shouldn't be. The socket should come on once the ignition is turned on, then stay in for a period after the ignition is turned off.

I had the opposite problem - my USB adapter would trick the computer into turning the powers back on again, eventually flattening the battery.

Have you tried an alternate accessory in the accessory outlet to confirm basic operation?

I found this with mine as well. But only with some USB chargers. I was using a Powerlet to SAE to cig-lighter socket that I had around. It worked for years on my 800GS, connected to the OEM socket. Individually, everything worked fine on the R12R - outlet, cable, USB charger, but together, nada. So I bought a Battery Tender USB charger with SAE connector and that works fine. I wonder if there's something in some of the USB chargers that doesn't play well with the Canbus-controlled outlet on the bike.

Thanks for the reply. I have the SAE direct to battery cable as well. Would there would be an issue charging my phone directly off the battery on this bike?
